We
already know that the Monaco luxury real estate market is extremely unique, with Monaco property commanding a higher price per metre than anywhere
else in the world.
Research
released earlier this year, revealed that the buying price per metre for Monaco property was more than €41,000,
in comparison to €25,000 for the world’s next most expensive city, London.
But
these prices were dulled into insignificance last month when it was revealed
that the penthouse of the Odeon Tower, currently being built overlooking
Larvotto Plage in Monte-Carlo, has a price tag of €300 million.
This
price is expected to make the five-floor penthouse the most expensive apartment
in the world.
So
what will the lucky purchaser get for his euro? The multi-storey apartment sits
at the top of the first skyscraper to be built in the Principality since the
1980s, when its’ then ruler Prince Rainier, banned the construction of tall
buildings over worries they were damaging Monaco’s character.
However,
this ban was overturned by Monaco’s current ruler Prince Albert II in 2009,
when the ambitious project to construct the 560ft tower just seconds from the
water’s edge was given the green light.
The
Odeon Tower’s penthouse is without any doubt the most coveted address within
the new apartment block, boasting five palatial bedrooms, a kitchen on each
floor, and its own fully equipped health centre.
The
piece de resistance has certainly
caught the imagination of the world’s press with its gigantic infinity pool,
which can be reached by a slide from the balcony above.
Each
room in the penthouse, which sits on the 45th to 49th
level of the skyscraper, has floor to ceiling windows, and enjoys unparalleled
views of the Mediterranean and the surrounding sites of Monaco. The interiors
have been designed by award-winning designer Albert Pinto, with a contemporary look
inspired by lead architect Alexandre Giraldi, who has designed some of the
finest luxury properties in Monaco.
The
penthouse also boasts a private home-cinema, sauna and a state-of-the-art home business centre.
